About

Justin A Levine is a writer, hiker, natural resources expert and homesteader living in the Northern Adirondack Mountains of New York.  He lived in a small one room cabin with no running water, indoor plumbing, or electricity for three years.  Through the long, cold winters, the Cabin Life series was born, and the readership of his blog jumped to thousands of readers each week.  He has continued to write about hiking, homesteading, and self-sufficiency after moving into a house with an indoor toilet and hot shower.

In addition to writing about living off the grid and hiking, he is a frequent freelance writer, producing dozens of essays on survival, homesteading, and information for preppers.  He has written several books, and is writing a self-sufficiency series based on the skills and observations that he learned from years of outdoor survival experience.

Justin is available for presentations to outdoor groups, and is a polished and experienced public speaker.  His slide shows on hiking, trail work, and off-grid living, or readings of his essays are engaging and entertaining, while also being highly professional.  His presentations can be catered to any group and length of time.

He is also available for freelance writing work, and has experience in the above areas, as well as history, personal stories, and natural resource issues.  He has been published in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, The Schenectady Gazette, The Leader Herald, as well as being a contributor to the Adirondack Almanack.

  2. Hi Justin,

Wow. I found your through your article in Adirondack Almanac. You are living the life I want 🙂
Every day I dream about moving to the Adirondacks, to a small isolated cabin, taking long walks and watching the seasons change. Thinking and writing.
I can’t wait to read all your posts. I would love to hear about how you did it, how you found your cabin etc.
Feel free to email me anytime.

  3. Just found your site moments ago. A quick scroll through says that I’m going to enjoy what you offer here. Thank you for it. Also great to have somebody blogging in and about my local turf. (I’m in Saranac, Clinton Co.) Look forward to your posts rolling into my inbox.
